Great Lakes Grain is looking for a
Temporary Grain Merchandising Administrative Assistant to join our Team. Work under the direction of the Controller as the
Grain Merchandising Administrative Assistant, you will work closely with the Great Lakes Grain and AGRIS Team, effectively supporting implementation of grain marketing programs to provide profitable solutions, managing off farm and farm direct contracts with growers. You will support growers, carriers, and working closely with Grain Originators, as well as working with our branches on grain contracts and elevator grain movement to guide the achievement of volume growth and contribute to grain division profitability to create long term value for the Organization and Farmer Owners.
What will you be responsible for:
- Deliver an exceptional customer experience at every interaction.
- Providing administration assistance to the existing team including processing grain freight payables: accounts receivable and accounts payables, as well as preparation of grain settlements
- Provide administration assistance Trading, merchandising, and hedging such that can assist in grain merchandising and serve as a key resource to Origination and merchandising staff
- Drive the process and management of financial risk associated with trading grain and commodities.
- Provides ongoing information and feedback to General Manager, Area Managers, Branch Managers, Grain Originators and Grain Representatives for the purpose of originating grain and developing effective marketing plans.
- Maintains and updates accounts, payables, customer information and records on a daily basis
- Supports the marketing and sales efforts of the company through information on prospects, problems, and opportunities.
- Support the branches and originators in logistics, documentation, and accounts.
- Performs various administrative functions, relating to daily, monthly, and year-end Checklists and assist in balancing monthly inventories
- Understands and follows the Company’s health & safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements for this position:
- Preference will be given to candidates with post-secondary diploma or degree or related experience
- Proven financial and analytical skills
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with agriculture, grain marketing, sales, and origination an asset.
- Experience with hedging strategies considered an asset.
- Demonstrated organizational and logic capabilities
- Demonstrated passion for delivering exceptional customer service experiences.
- Ability to build professional relationships and partnerships, assess business opportunities, and negotiate appropriate agreements.
- Proven professional communication, interpersonal, persuasion, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated planning, organization, and problem-solving skills
