Grain Administrative Assistant | Great Lakes Grain - Central Office

Great Lakes Grain is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Grain Merchandising Administrative Assistant to join our dynamic team! Reporting to the Controller, you will work closely with our merchandising team to ensure the accurate and efficient processing of transactions, providing exceptional service to our farmer-owners and end-use customers.

Your enthusiasm and organizational skills will help maintain seamless administrative operations, supporting both our customers and branch staff. Key responsibilities include accounts payable and receivable, ticket application, and grain settlements processing. Your contributions will play a critical role in driving operational excellence and adding long-term value to our organization and Farmer-owners.

What You’ll Be Responsible For:

  • Delivering outstanding customer experiences at every interaction.
  • Supporting the team with grain freight payables, accounts receivable/payable, and preparing grain settlements.
  • Assisting with trading, merchandising, and hedging activities to support the grain merchandising team and serve as a key resource for originators and merchandisers.
  • Managing financial risk processes associated with grain and commodity trading.
  • Providing ongoing feedback and insights to improve processes across the grain team.
  • Maintaining and updating accounts, payables, customer information, and records daily.
  • Supporting branch staff and originators with logistics, documentation, and account setup.
  • Performing administrative functions, including balancing monthly accounts and year-end tasks.
  • Adhering to company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Completing other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree or relevant experience (preferred).
  • Strong financial and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience in agriculture, grain marketing, sales, or origination (an asset).
  • Familiarity with hedging strategies (an asset).
  • Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Professional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
